What to Include in a College Recruiting Profile

Updated October 17, 2026

A recruiting profile is a one-page summary of your athlete that a coach can scan in about a minute. It answers the first questions a coach has: who is this athlete, what do they play, how good are they, and how do I reach them.

The basics

Contact information

Athletic information

Academics

Film

Film is the part coaches care about most. Link to a short highlight reel with your best clips first, and add full-game film if you have it. Use a link that opens without a login, such as an unlisted YouTube video or a shared Google Drive link. Keep it current: update it every season.

Schedule

List upcoming games, tournaments, showcases, and camps, with dates and locations, so coaches know where they can see you play.

A short bio

Two or three sentences about who the athlete is: why they play, what they are working on, and what they care about. Coaches recruit people, not just stats.

Tips for a strong profile

Recruiting and eligibility rules differ by sport and division, and they change. Always confirm the current rules with the NCAA, the NAIA, or the college you are talking to. GritRecruit is not affiliated with the NCAA.
